Our Harmonic Balancer Puller Set is a universal bolt-type puller set. While most commonly used to pull harmonic balancers or steering wheels, it can be used to pull most any gear, hub, or flange that has threaded holes. Bolt-type pullers are typically used on fragile objects, such as stamped steel sprockets or pulleys, where a jaw type puller would bend or crack the pulley.

Harmonic balancers are of a two-part design. An outer cast iron ring is mounted to an inner hub with a bonded rubber insert to absorb vibration. If you use a jaw type puller on these you'll shear the rubber bond and the balancer will be destroyed, so a bolt-type puller that inserts into the center hub must always be used.
