Features:
The Dewalt 1/2" Cordless Hammer-Drill is a lightweight tool capable of drilling in concrete or masonry. The
high RPM and blows per minute make this an excellent choice for Tapcon
fastening systems as well as small diameter holes. While this tool is rated at 1/2" capacity, you'll find it gives best
results with holes up to 3/8" diameter. Hammer-drills require operator pressure to achieve the necessary "rattling" action
that hammers the bit and speeds the drilling process. If you have many 1/2" holes to drill you'll get better results with our
3/4" Rotary Hammer. Rotary hammers have a piston that
actually strikes the bit. This gives you a greater blow and less effort on the part of the operator.
This hammer-drill has a two-speed gear case and is reversible. It should be noted that hammer-drills have a high
RPM compared to regular drills in order to achieve a higher drilling and hammering rate in concrete. This makes them
unsuitable for drilling in steel with larger size bits because the excessive RPM will burn high speed steel bits in the 3/8"
and 1/2" sizes. If you need to drill steel we suggest a slower speed drill. It's also important to use only percussion carbide drill
bits with hammer-drills because standard carbide will shatter when the hammering begins.
