Our Milwaukee portable band saw features a 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" throat. They are powered by a 6-amp motor with a dual speed switch to select cutting speeds of 200 SFPM or 250 SFPM. They are used for cutting tube stock, pipe, angle iron, flat stock, and other structural steel. The continuous action of the band saw blade makes for a smoother cut and less jarring to the work while cutting compared to a reciprocating saw. Also, they don't create the sparks that abrasive saw blades do when cutting.
